| Introduction For whatever reason, I am a scratch-build scale modeler with a preference for scenes of the later American West (1870-1900). I began modeling nearly fifty years ago. My models aren’t “historical” in the true sense. They are “interpretations.” Details are taken from real prototypes, but often combined to produce a new tableau, which both illustrates the subject, and conveys a “feel” of the time and place (in my view). I always try to be respectful and accurate to the spirit of the originals. Over time, I’ve picked up a few tricks and encountered a few mind-bending challenges. So, I’m writing this book to share my little bit of knowledge, so that you – dear reader – can add it to your enjoyment of a great avocation. |
